The Man in the Clothes

This site is written and designed by Kyle Solberg, a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Within the Society, I am known by the name Giovanni Loredan. I hold a bachelor's degree in History and my focus within history has always been in the Medieval and Renaissance periods, so when I found the local chapter of the SCA, I jumped in feet first! I joined the SCA in May 2012 and quickly turned towards the creation and development of my persona - who I would be in the SCA.

Within the Society, members take on the persona of a minor noble, adopting a plausible name and origin. I had spent time in Italy during college and was fascinated with the country and its history, but I was most drawn to the longest standing Republic of the time, Venice. Shortly thereafter, Giovanni was born in the Current Middle Ages. Although many members of the SCA are content with developing a name and country of origin, some develop their personas further, as I did.
